Some people think of Steve Martin as a very funny man with silver hair.

I think of him as a man with stunningly sad eyes who writes books about people with troubled love lives. I am sure they aren’t autobiographical in any way.
So it will be interesting to see just how autobiographical his new book will be, as it will be a collection of his tweets–and the replies he gets to them.
Naturally, he announced this fine project on Twitter: “Due to absolutely no demand, soon I’m publishing a book of my tweets. Many of your replies included! All my profits to charity.”
Are they so interesting? Well, he does enjoy more than 1.7 million followers. So perhaps their replies will make for a remarkable quality of dialogue between characters.
Last year, Martin caused a small kerfuffle when he claimed to be tweeting from jury duty. (Sample: “REPORT FROM JURY DUTY: defendant looks like a murderer. GUILTY. Waiting for opening remarks.”)
He later revealed that he was joking.
Still, Reuters managed to get a revelation from Martin’s publishers that the book will be titled: “The Ten, Make That Nine, Habits of Very Organized People. Make That Ten.” I wonder if the title will change before its publication next summer.
I wonder, also, whether the book will include an amplification of his tweet of October 20: “Lunch with Gadhafi, cancelled.”
